This month we caught up with Hannah from Jolly Brown in Hitchin as part of our ongoing feature to discover more about our lovely community of stockists around the world!

Bohemia Stockist Jolly Brown Vintage

What was the inspiration behind Jolly Brown Vintage and how did it all get started?
We opened 10 years ago, after working in the film industry I wanted to work for myself and offer something a little different to the retail world. Online shopping was really kicking off at the time and I wasn’t keen on the fast fashion element of the retail world, quick and cheap didn’t work for me and I wanted to create somewhere where people could get something unique, affordable and ethical. Vintage and second hand is my passion, especially reworking and regenerating items, but we also curate gorgeous ethical brands to sit alongside our vintage and one of our favourites is Bohemia!

What does a typical working day look like for you?
Well, it's all change! In store, no one day is the same as another, but I always start with putting on a loud country track on and have a big hoover, its been like that for 10 years!

What music is playing in the shop right now?
On repeat is The War on Drugs ‘Red Eyes’.

We love insider tips! Can you give us your top 3 must-see places in Hitchin? Ooo it's a beautiful little town, full to the brim with independent businesses but I would go with...
1. Groundworks for great brunch
2. Quotidian Bakery for a daily loaf
3. Mench Living, next door to Jolly Brown and owned by my best chum, but there are SO many more places to go, come on down!

What do the next few months have in store for Jolly Brown?
We have got an exciting few months ahead! Lots of plans afoot, some rad new brands coming in for spring and some awesome plans for JB on tour at UK festivals in the summer. VIVA LA JOLLY BROWN!
