How To Curate A Cosy Winter Dinner
January can feel like a long month, particularly this far north in the British Isles, and the weather can surprise us with each new day. We've been lucky to have had some beautiful winter sun here in Edinburgh of late, even though the ground has been glittering white with hard frost. Layered up in thermals and padded coats we've been enjoying long walks through the city's streets and parks, but we also love returning home to a hot cup of tea or wee dram!
On days the storm clouds are gathering we like to bring our friends and family together for cosy dinners and conversation. Our walnut wood collection brings a particular warmth to the table with its natural grain and the tactile appeal of objects crafted by hand. Add a few candles and the warming scent of incense for a perfect Sunday while the weather does its worst outside.
Discover our must haves for curating the perfect tablescape for a winter dinner with your loved ones.
1. Walnut Wood Plates and Bowls
Handcrafted by skilled hands in Morocco, our walnut wood plates and bowls are perfect for adding to your table setting. Serve home cooked meals on our plates and offer snacks or desserts in our delicate wooden bowls. They add a beautiful bohemian feel to any dinner table, and we love to use them for alfresco dining in the Summer too!
2. Hand Carved Cutlery
To go alongside our plates, we've designed a contemporary take on classic cutlery, introducing forks, knives, spoons and even salad servers to our collection using our beloved walnut wood. They're the perfect addition to your tablescape, invoking a soft, scandi feel instead of the often harsh appearance of traditional metal cutlery.
3. Spice dishes and serving trays
Of course, you also have to have something beautiful to hold your spices and condiments in. We love to use our mini bowls and serving trays to add a little bit of extra bohemian flare to our table setting. We think our little bowls look extra special on the table with a sprinkling of Himalayan pink salt!
4. Incense and candles
Dark days are instantly made brighter with the soft glow of candles on your table. Our hand carved candlesticks make the perfect centrepiece for a dinner party, and we love to introduce brightly coloured candles into the setting for a little positive pop of colour. We also love to have the soothing scent of incense burning in our space whilst we socialise, and our delicate incense holders are the perfect answer for keeping your space smelling lovely whilst you entertain.
5. Vases of flowers
To finish off your tablescape, we can't forget a vase of colourful blooms! Our hand-turned walnut wood vases look beautiful paired with vibrant dried flowers and grasses. Mix and match our styles, or choose a vase in small, medium and large to give your table setting that extra bit of depth.
