Miroslav Sasek was born in Prague in 1916 and worked as a painter and illustrator for most of his life. After a three-week holiday in Paris, Sasek had the idea of writing travel books for children. 'This is Paris' is the first in his series, published in 1958. It is a delightful tour of 1950s Paris from a child's eye view. It portrays fantastic colour illustrations of famous landmarks and snippets of fascinating information.
