Nothing quite says summer like a billowing clothes line pegged with freshly washed laundry. The scent of sun dried cottons folded crisply into a natural, handwoven basket has to be one of life's simple pleasures.

Our ethos at Bohemia is to pay mindful attention to life's daily tasks, creating objects of beauty for everyday use. There is something intrinsically healthy about introducing handcrafted elements into our homes and lives. Items made from natural materials, such as earthen pottery, plant fibre baskets and leather footwear, connect us on a primordial level with the world around us, as well as our ancestral past where the ability to utilise materials found in nature was an essential tool for our survival.

Washing clothes is one of the most repetitive of chores but can be sweetened by finding the perfect laundry basket, and we believe our rustic, slow crafted Beldi design is just that. Beldi is a Moroccan word meaning traditional, rural and natural, which we think aptly describes this basket, woven as it is from sustainable palm leaf in the time-honoured way.

There is an art to finding magic in daily ritual, and we love the Instagram account clotheslinespoetry, where humour and beauty combine to elevate this little appreciated household task to a joyous celebration of the mundane. The poetry of colour and place, with a discerning eye for composition, make this 'daily dose of fresh laundry' an inspiration when it comes to turning our own washday into something quite so spectacular!
